Jason Lyons’ relationship with the Roundhouse at UNSW has come full circle. “I attended UNSW, then worked at the Roundhouse for three years as an events manager” said Jason. “For the last few years I’ve been producing sport internationally and was in Budapest producing the FINA Swimming World Championships when UNSW called me about a new opportunity that I couldn’t resist’.
The new opportunity was as Head of Venue and Events at the newly refurbished Roundhouse, located on the UNSW lower campus.
For more than half a century the iconic Roundhouse has been a lot of things to a lot of people. It’s welcomed INXS, and the Foo Fighters, as well as comedy, theatre and conferences.
After being closed for 12 months for renovations, the Roundhouse has been transformed into a versatile, state of the art venue where events and conferences of up to 2,200 people are provided for, in an amazing 360 degree experience.
“We’ve future proofed it” says Jason. “Put world-class AV
into every room, along with projectors and wall mounted screens. And we have the best sound, whether it’s for a party, conference or a rock gig.”
The event venue also incorporates a Club bar, Unibar and leafy outdoor beer garden where a range of food trucks can offer a diverse selection of menus. Roundhouse now works with four caterers on an expert panel to offer the most competitive and well-suited catering package for each individual event.
“Yes, we host big rock gigs and large conferences, but we also do weddings, parties and much more too. We can offer amazing bespoke event experiences that will be unparalleled and long remembered” says Jason.
